United Credit Reporting Bureau Inc. of Garden Grove, a privately owned mortgage-reporting firm, said Tuesday that it has been acquired by Cleveland-based TRW Inc. Details of the cash purchase were not disclosed.

United Credit, which has 100 employees in six Southern California offices, will join TRW’s real estate information division. TRW Vice President Patrick J. Tierney said the company plans to use the acquisition to improve its client support and to expand services.

Although United Credit had not been seeking a buyer, its three owners were impressed by TRW’s wide base of operations, said Sylvia Trull, one of United Credit’s owners and an officer in the acquired operation.

“I see nothing but big things,” said Trull, who added that TRW assured United Credit employees that they will keep their jobs and that the company’s offices in Garden Grove, Long Beach, Van Nuys, Covina, Ventura and Bakersfield will remain open.

TRW’s real estate information division provides residential real estate appraisal, title and tax services. The company has been expanding the division through a number of acquisitions in the last two years.
