Bank of America is negotiating to sell its 38,000-customer Dutch VISA credit card operation to a large Netherlands savings and loan company, the U.S. bank reported. Talks are being held with Verenigde Spaarbank NV, said James Mitchell, a spokesman for San Francisco-based Bank of America. The VISA operation’s assets in the Netherlands were estimated at about $5 million at the end of 1986. “These discussions are part of our international strategy to concentrate resources on the top tier of the wholesale institutional market . . . corporations, banks and governments,” Mitchell said.
