Monterey Park : Trash Fee May Increase

The City Council will consider a proposal to raise trash collection rates by 10% at its meeting Monday. The monthly fee for collecting trash from single-family homes would go to $7.02, up from $6.38.

More than half the increase would go to Athens Disposal Co., the city’s trash collection contractor, to help pay for the increased costs of dumping trash in nearby landfills. The remainder would be retained by the city to cover billing costs.
