Long Beach : Seminars for City Staffers

Share

In an attempt to present a “helpful, friendly, knowledgeable image,” Long Beach city employees who come in contact with the public will participate in a seminar designed to sharpen their communication skills.

The City Council on Tuesday approved a $28,925 expenditure which will train up to 390 employees at a cost of about $74 per person. Extension Services at California State University, Long Beach, will provide the classes during two-day seminars, which begin next month. Classes include “how to meet and greet customers with a positive attitude” and “how to give explanations and instructions in a helpful manner.”

It’s an attempt “to help our employees to think of our citizens as customers,” said Sharon Chernekoff, Long Beach employee services and training officer.
