Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies have arrested two Garden Grove men on suspicion of stealing about $800,000 worth of automotive paint hardener from a City of Commerce plant over a three-month period, authorities said Thursday.

Sheriff’s Deputy Dan Cox said Kevin Jurdan and Kirt Loomis, both 25, were suspected of stealing 2,500 cases of the automotive paint hardener during at least five burglaries at a DuPont plant between May and July.

Cox said anonymous tips led investigators to the two suspects.

Loomis, a former employee at the City of Commerce plant, was arrested at his Garden Grove home Thursday and was booked on burglary charges into the sheriff’s Lakewood substation with bail set at $100,000, Cox said. Jurdan is serving time in Orange County Jail on unrelated traffic violations and will be booked at a later date, he said.
