Louis Farrakhan’s Visit to Los Angeles

Share

The members of the Alliance of the Black-Jewish Clergy applaud Mayor Bradley’s statement that the message of Farrakhan is unwelcome in Los Angeles.

We repudiate his racial slurs upon Jews, Koreans, his preachments of bigotry and hatred, and his attack upon responsible black leadership.

Since his visit in 1985, our Alliance of Black-Jewish Clergy has met regularly and worked together in order to strengthen the bonds which unite us. Synagogues and churches, rabbis and ministers have shared educational and religious occasions, and have reached out to serve the poor, sick and homeless. Farrakhan’s tactic is to exacerbate tensions and trouble. Ours is to seek racial harmony, cooperation and a community which is responsive to social compassion and economic justice.

We urge all responsible political, religious and other community leaders to join with us in repudiating Farrakhan’s message. Let it be clear that in Los Angeles we form a strong bond of mutual support, cooperation and friendship.
