U2 SHOWS

Share

So now U2 is the latest to go the stadium route. Let’s set the record straight. U2 and the Boss sing for the common man for one reason: big bucks.

What about the fan demand? When I see one of these greed-mongers sell tickets for half price at one of these venues I’ll believe it. The gross for one recent stadium gig exceeded $1.6 million! Why exhaust yourselves playing a week in hockey arenas for a mere 1.4 mil., when you can hit-and-run a football stadium in a day? Or, in the Boss’ case, play the Coliseum for a week. You always hear about Springsteen’s generous contribution to various charities; giving $10,000 for him is like me giving a penny to Jerry’s kids at 7-Eleven.

Here’s my suggestion to U2, Springsteen, Genesis, Bowie, Madonna, Dead/Dylan and any other artist willing to satisfy “Fan Demand” by playing stadiums: Why don’t you all get together and play on the moon? You could play just two days and charge every one on Earth.

We’ll be able to see and hear about as well as at Anaheim Stadium.
