Color Systems Technology Inc. Wednesday announced plans to colorize its first major package of public domain movies, including works featuring James Cagney, Gary Cooper, Bette Davis and Orson Welles. Color Systems has colorized films owned by such companies as Turner Entertainment and Disney previously. According to a recent ruling by the U.S. Copyright Office, Color Systems will own the rights to the colorized versions of the films. The films in the package are: “Of Human Bondage,” “Cyrano de Bergerac,” “The Fallen Idol,” “The Private Life of Henry VIII,” “The Third Man,” “His Girl Friday,” “Little Lord Fauntleroy,” “The Scarlet Pimpernel,” “That Uncertain Feeling,” “Blood on the Sun,” “Meet John Doe,” “Scarlet Street,” “The Stranger” and “Sundown.” The films will be available for syndication in mid-1988.
