Oil Wells in the Palisades

Robertson’s column is without merit. It may best be answered by referring to his title: “Palisades Oil Is Los Angeles’ Oil.” Then I say: “Palisades Beaches Are Los Angeles Beaches!”

To call this proposed project “a fight between the haves and have-nots” not only misses the point of almost 20 years of controversy, but is insulting to the principal users of our beaches. They come by the tens of thousands from the valleys of San Gabriel and San Fernando, from the inner city and from all other reaches of Los Angeles County. These are the citizens who will lose the most if our beaches and Santa Monica Bay are defaced, polluted and ultimately destroyed by industrial uses.

I say the price is not acceptable.
