AND WAIT, THERE’S MORE: Don’t ask us why--but Lynyrd Skynyrd is hitting the road for a 10th anniversary reunion tour, starting with a Sept. 6 appearance at Charlie Daniels’ annual Volunteer Jam (the band will be at Irvine Meadows Sept. 27 and Universal Amphitheatre Sept. 27-28). By the end of September, MCA will also release “Legends,” a collection of remixed demo tapes and flip-sides. Expect a new album as well, featuring the new version of the band, led by Johnny Van Zant, younger brother of band founder, the late Ronnie Van Zant. . . . Yes--that was Bruce Springsteen who joined Marshall Crenshaw on stage earlier this month at the legendary Stone Pony in Asbury Park, N.J., for a raucous rendition of “La Bamba.” . . . And maybe we can’t expect a real riot on Sunset Strip. But Capitol Records is close enough. The label’s up ‘n’ coming headbangers, Helix, have a new album due out called “Wild in the Streets.” And to celebrate, the group will headline a KNAC-FM-sponsored block party Thursday night in the Capitol Tower parking lot.
