Caribbean Discounts

Share

Until mid-December you’re likely to find off-season rates at most Caribbean properties, with various special discount programs offered at some properties and on some islands.

On Puerto Rico you can get a set of complimentary tickets for different events in the year-round LeLoLai festival, a series of performances that celebrate the island’s traditional music and dance, if you stay a minimum of four nights (seven nights during high season) at participating hotels at regular room rates.

The festival packet also includes a coupon booklet with discounts for sightseeing tours, car rentals, stores, theme parks, museums and ferryboat rides.

You can get a free round of golf and complimentary souvenirs of local products such as Bacardi rum bottles at the Bacardi Rum plant. Free admission to the El Nuevo Comandante race track clubhouse and a San Juan bay cruise are other perks.

If you’re staying longer than four nights you can also get a 10% discount at the island’s paradores or country inns on weekdays.

The complete set of tickets in the LeLoLai kit is worth $120, with folkloric and musical shows costing $5 to $7 if you buy them at general admission. Many of these shows are held at hotels. Food and drinks are extra.

The festival packet can be bought separately in Puerto Rico; it’s $8 for adults and $6 for children.
