Olson Industries said it lost $861,000 in the second quarter, contrasted with a profit of $256,000, or 37 cents a share, a year earlier. Sales rose to $15.1 million from $14.4 million.
Olson attributed the loss for the quarter ended June 30 to its March decision to shed its egg-production business and concentrate on manufacturing plastic containers. The second-quarter results included a $331,000 loss from discontinued operations.
For the first half of 1987, Olson lost $3.7 million, including a $3.4-million loss from discontinued lines, contrasted with year-earlier net income of $2 million, or $2.86 a share. Six-month sales rose to $30.8 million from $29.3 million.
