Firefighters recovered the bodies of two men who were killed when their twin-engine airplane crashed in the desert near Salton Sea. Imperial County Fire Department Lt. George Neves said rescue crews used four-wheel-drive vehicles to get through rough terrain to the crash site, about 2 1/2 miles southwest of Salton City. He said both victims were dead when crews arrived. Neves said the plane was a twin-engine Beechcraft, but Federal Aviation Administration officials had no immediate information on the plane’s origin or destination and the victims were not immediately identified.
