Only two of six Riverside County Jail escapees remained at large after Ontario police and Riverside County sheriff’s deputies surrounded an Ontario house to capture Vincent Arroyo Jr., 40, of Hemet. He surrendered after officers talked to him by telephone for 30 minutes. Arroyo, who had been awaiting trial on assault with a deadly weapon, and the others fled from a fourth-floor recreation area of the jail in Riverside on Sunday night after overpowering a guard. Three were recaptured almost immediately. Still missing were Derrick Shawn Smith, 21, and Noel Jackson, 31, both of Los Angeles and both facing trial for murder.
