San Marcos
Mike Preston, 34, a furniture store owner, has been named to the City Council to succeed Dr. Lionel Burton, who resigned to take a job in a hospital in American Samoa.
The council voted Tuesday night to name Preston to the remainder of the term, which expires in November, 1988. Preston was a loser in last year’s council campaign.
He will resign from the San Marcos school board to take the council seat. Council members selected Preston over real estate agent Ed Morrison.
