Pankey Ends Holdout, Will Sign With Rams

Left tackle Irv Pankey will end his 31-day holdout today and sign a two-year deal that will make him the sixth-highest paid Ram.

Pankey will earn $340,000 this year and $345,000 in 1988, with a chance to realize $30,000 in incentives each season.

Pankey, 29, has been a holdout since veterans were due to report July 26.

“It’s not bad for the Rams,” Pankey’s attorney, Peter Funsten, said of the deal.

The only Rams who will earn more than Pankey in 1987 are Eric Dickerson, $683,000; Nolan Cromwell, $400,000; Jackie Slater, $400,000; Henry Ellard, $375,000, and Dennis Harrah, $345,000.
