A 39-year-old Costa Mesa surfboard shop owner was arrested Friday on charges of possession of cocaine for sale and possession of 70 pounds of marijuana, police said.

Newport Beach Police spokesman Kent Stoddard said Robert Russell Brown was arrested at 8 a.m. at his home in the 900 block of West Wilson Street. Brown owns Russell Surfboards on Newport Boulevard in Newport Beach.

Stoddard said the marijuana, valued at $70,000, was found at a surfboard shaping shop in the 100 block of 16th St. in Costa Mesa. One-eighth of an ounce of cocaine was found in Brown’s car, and $15,000 in cash was found in a safe at Brown’s house, he said.
