O’Gara Coachworks Gears Up in New Facility

O’Gara Coachworks, a maker of stretch limousines, resumes production Tuesday in a facility in Cincinnati after moving from its 30,000-square-foot plant in Simi Valley.

O’Gara moved into a 104,000-square-foot facility that already houses an O’Gara affiliate, O’Gara-Hess & Eisenhardt Armoring, a manufacturer of armored limousines such as those used by the White House.

O’Gara Coachworks employed 50 people in Simi Valley, where the company made about 190 stretch limousines from 1987 model cars. Most of those workers are likely to be hired by another specialty car maker, Enterra Automobiles, that is moving into the plant, said Enterra President James Salscheider. Enterra’s parent company is Enterra Motor Cars Ltd. of Vancouver, British Columbia.

O’Gara moved to Cincinnati mainly to be closer to the major cities along the East Coast and in the South, and because of the additional space available in the Ohio plant, said O’Gara President Nicholas Carpinello.
