Glasnost

Like so many others, the article “Glasnost: Refuseniks Apparently Benefitting” (Part I, Aug. 12) only tells part of the story. The story notes welcome improvements for Jews. But it omits to say that glasnost for Slavs and Jews has meant no improvement for the Soviet Union’s 50 million oppressed Muslims and millions of non-Muslim, non-Christian and non-Jewish East Asians. So far, glasnost is “Jim Crow” and only the fair-skinned European Soviets may apply.
