Airliner Safe After Fire Report
An American Airlines 727 with 31 passengers and a crew of six made a safe emergency landing today after the pilot reported an engine fire, the Federal Aviation Administration said.
The passengers and crew of Flight 907 en route to Tampa from Nashville were evacuated by emergency chute when the plane landed at 12:10 p.m. EDT at Tampa International Airport, an airline spokesman said. A warning light in the cockpit of the 727-200 indicated a possible fire in one engine, but controllers in the tower reported seeing no flames or smoke. Two people were slightly injured in the evacuation.
