Jesus (Jess) Carreon has been named vice president for instruction at El Camino College, replacing Sam Schauerman, who was appointed president of the two-year college in June. Carreon, 38, a native of San Diego and director of instructional and vocational programs at San Bernardino Valley College, will supervise El Camino’s nine academic divisions.

Eugene R. Kunde has been named to the board of directors of the Health Care Foundation of Torrance Memorial Hospital Medical Center. The foundation is the fund-raising arm of the not-for-profit medical center. Kunde is executive vice president and general manager of Epson America in Torrance.

Theodore A. Bruinsma has been named to a one-year term on the board of directors of San Pedro Peninsula Hospital. Bruinsma, who heads Technology Transfer in Torrance, is a former dean of Loyola Law School in Los Angeles and a trustee of California State University. Bruinsma replaces Len Thorell, who recently moved out of the area.

Alice M. Wise of Manhattan Beach has been appointed to the Los Angeles County Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Commission by Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich. The commission advises the Board of Supervisors on drug problems in the county and recommends solutions and programs.

John F. O’Hara of Rolling Hills Estates has been appointed to the board of directors of Little Company of Mary Hospital in Torrance. O’Hara is a senior member of the Los Angeles law firm of Parker, Milliken, Clark, O’Hara and Samuelian.

Rabbi Steven Silver, 34, is the new spiritual leader of Temple Menorah in Redondo Beach. His most recent position was in Houston, Tex., where he was assistant rabbi of Temple Emmanuel.
