Eastern Illinois Rushes for 3 Yards; San Jose Wins, 24-3

Quarterback Mike Perez threw for two touchdowns, and running back Kenny Jackson scored another as San Jose State extended its winning streak to 10 games with a 24-3 victory over Division 1-AA opponent Eastern Illinois.

The Spartans’ defense held Eastern Illinois to just three yards rushing.

Perez, who last year led the NCAA in total offense, completed 27 of 45 passes for 291 yards. His touchdown passes both cames on plays of 27 yards, one to Johnny Johnson and the other to Guy Liggins.

Jackson rushed for 80 yards in 12 carries.

Eastern Illinois scored its only points on a 35-yard field goal by Rich Ehmke in the second quarter.
