UCI Beats San Jose State in Men’s Soccer

Mike Perisi’s goal in the second overtime period Sunday broke a 1-1 tie and helped UC Irvine to a 3-1 victory over San Jose State in a Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. soccer game at Irvine.

Darren Bedolla of Irvine (1-0) tied the score at 1-1 with a goal at the 72-minute mark of regulation. Neither team scored in the first 10-minute overtime period.

Bedolla added the final goal off Kevin Peterson’s second assist.

Mike Gartlan had 13 saves in goal for Irvine. San Jose is 0-1 in the PCAA, 0-2 overall.
