Hermosa Beach : Interim City Manager Hired
The City Council hired former Manhattan Beach City Manager Gayle Martin this week as interim city manager.
Martin, 68, is expected to serve as Hermosa Beach city manager for four to six months until a replacement for former City Manager Gregory T. Meyer is hired. The city is conducting a nationwide search to replace Meyer, who resigned last week to become a deputy administrator of the Los Angeles Community Redevelopment Agency.
Martin, who will start the temporary job Monday at a salary of $5,245 a month, was Manhattan Beach city manager from 1956 to 1974. He resigned from that position because of disagreements with the City Council. He was the city manager of La Mesa from 1975 to 1980.
Assistant City Manager Alana Mastrian has been acting city manager.
