The six-year contract extension for quarterback John Elway of the Denver Broncos, which would make him the highest-paid player in the NFL, reported last week but denied at the time by the Broncos, was confirmed Friday. Sources said last week that the deal is for $12.7 million. Elway, 27, is currently in the final year of a five-year contract worth $4 million.
