Wall Street brokerages that underwrote $2.25 billion in bonds to build two nuclear power plants that were eventually abandoned--prompting the biggest municipal bond default in history--have agreed to settle a lawsuit for $92 million. The agreement by the underwriters, if it is approved in federal court, only settles the suit in part. Other remaining defendants include the Washington Public Power Supply System and 88 Northwest utilities that signed on to build the plants.
