A demonstrator critical of the South Korean government roughed up visiting presidential candidate Roh Tae Woo on a downtown Washington street today, witnesses said.

They said the 54-year-old Roh appeared to be shaken up but unhurt in the incident, which occurred as he arrived at the National Press Club for a luncheon speech. The demonstrator jumped at Roh and hit him in the shoulder with his arms before U.S. and South Korean bodyguards knocked the demonstrator to the ground and dragged him away, one witness said.
