Organizations assisting AIDS sufferers will receive an extra $150,000 from the City of San Diego.

Council members voted Monday to parcel out the money, which comes from federal grants, to three groups that are helping people who suffer from acquired immune deficiency syndrome.

Those groups receiving the funds are the AIDS Assistance Fund, which received $69,875; the Center for Social Services, $48,475, and the San Diego AIDS Project, $31,650.

Council members have said they wanted the money to be used for social services--such as providing transportation and rent money--rather than for research.
