Westwood : Traffic Mitigation Plan OKd

Share

The Los Angeles Planning Commission last week approved a plan that would require some developers of large buildings in crowded Westwood to relieve the increased traffic created by their projects.

Under the proposed ordinance, developers of buildings generating more than 42 car trips during peak hours of the afternoon would have to undergo a city review to determine whether the project will increase traffic in the area.

If the increase in traffic is substantial, the city may ask the developer to take mitigating measures such as van pools and ride-sharing. In addition, large employers could be asked to stagger work hours.

The 4-0 vote sends the ordinance to the City Council’s Planning and Environment committee and then on to the full council for a final vote.
