Share

Three new trustees will be sworn into office Monday night during a special meeting of the Laguna Beach Unified School District Board of Education.

Thomas R. (Tim) Davis, Kathleen Jones and Harvey Triebwasser will officially replace Carl E. Schwarz, Charlene Ragatz, and Janet S. Vickers, who were recalled from their posts in a special election Tuesday.

The new members will join current Trustees Susan Mas and Harry Bithell. During the meeting, the new board will choose a new president and clerk.

Davis and Triebwasser will serve until November, 1989, when Schwarz’s and Vickers’ terms would have expired. Jones, however, must face reelection Nov. 3 because Ragatz’s term would have expired this November.

District Supt. Dennis Smith called the special meeting to prepare the new members for their first regular meeting Oct. 13. Smith said he will familiarize them with board procedures and with major issues such as construction of an elementary school and remodeling of Laguna Beach High School that they will face in the coming months.

The special meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the board room at the school district offices, 550 Blumont St., Laguna Beach.
