Pomona police were searching Saturday night for two robbers who ran into a restaurant late Friday, shot two employees and forced 13 other people to lie face down at gunpoint while they were stripped of cash and valuables, a police spokesman said.

At 11:30 p.m. Friday, two armed men wearing knit ski masks and surgical gloves entered Espiau’s, a Mexican-American restaurant, and ordered everyone to lie on the floor. When one of the robbers discovered Jesus Rodriguez, 44, of Pomona, working in the kitchen, he shot Rodriguez in the leg. A bartender, James Coyle, 36, also was shot in the leg. Both men were listed in good condition at Pomona Valley Community Hospital, police said.

The suspects fled with $8,335 in cash and valuables.
