The Toronto Blue Jays signed Manager Jimy Williams and his entire coaching staff for the 1988 season.
Williams, in his second year as manager, guided the Blue Jays to a 96-66 record and a second-place finish in the AL East, although a season-ending seven-game losing streak cost them the division title.
Toronto finished two games behind Detroit, which beat the Blue Jays four straight times in the season’s final week.
