Columbus Day: Monday will mark the 495th anniversary of the landing on one of the Bahamas of Italian navigator Christopher Columbus, who thought he had reached Asia and who was widely credited with discovering America, even though others preceded him at more northerly latitudes.
Closed: State and federal offices, post offices and banks.
Open: Orange County and city offices, schools and most stores.
