7.0 Quake Hits Solomon Islands

GOLDEN, Colo. — A powerful earthquake jolted the Solomon Islands in the Pacific Ocean today, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
The quake measured 7.0 on the Richter scale and occurred in the Solomons about 1,450 miles north of Brisbane, Australia.
