An Iranian clergyman, convicted of corruption, drinking alcohol and narcotics violations, was stoned to death Tuesday in Tehran, Tehran radio reported.

Ali Shahidi was sentenced to die by a special Islamic court set up to try corrupt clergymen, the radio said. He was the seventh Iranian executed in Tehran in the last two weeks. The broadcast, monitored in Nicosia, referred to Shahidi as a “pseudo-clergyman.”
