Search in Castaic Fails to Find Girl, 16

Ground and aerial searches have failed to turn up any sign of a 16-year-old girl who disappeared Sunday night after stopping at a fast-food restaurant in Castaic, a Los Angeles County sheriff’s official said.

Marciel Dawn Routh and a group of friends were driving away from Del Taco on Castaic Road when Routh told the driver to stop the car so she could retrieve a ring she left in the restaurant’s restroom, said Deputy Hal Grant of the Sheriff’s Department.

Routh was last seen walking back to the restaurant about 11 p.m., Grant said. She did not return, and her friends reported her missing later in the evening. “She just disappeared,” Grant said.

Routh, who lives in Shafter near Bakersfield, had spent the day with friends at a horse auction in Los Alamitos.

“There’s no indication at this point that there was foul play,” Grant said.

Routh, who is known as Dawn or Allie to her friends, was described as 5-feet-2, 85 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes. She was wearing a yellow and white, short-sleeved shirt, brown pants and jeans jacket, Grant said.
