School Officials End Use of ‘Aide’ in Staff Titles

NORMAN, Okla. —
Noble School District officials say awareness of the disease AIDS has caused them to drop the word “aide” from job titles for district employees. Noble School Supt. Bill Martin said Tuesday he has issued a staff memo to replace the word “aide” with “assistant” in the titles of teacher and library aides to eliminate any possible confusion.
