A woman who lost vision in her eye because of injuries from a near-riot at a baseball game at Anaheim Stadium five years ago has agreed to accept $125,000 in damages to settle her lawsuit, a lawyer said Friday.
The city has agreed to pay $105,000 and the Angels to pay $20,000 to Susan Calderon, 31, according to her lawyer, James Hammerton.
Calderon alleged that security was poor at the stadium on Aug. 18, 1982, when shards of glass from a shattered rum bottle destroyed vision in her left eye.
Five people were arrested in the melee. Twenty police officers had broken up fistfights during a game between the Angels and the Boston Red Sox.
Calderon hopes to have her sight restored in her left eye by a corneal transplant, Hammerton said.
