UCSD Water Polo Team Tops Pepperdine, 11-10

Jefferson Smith scored in a sudden-death period Saturday night to lead the UC San Diego water polo team to an 11-10 victory over seventh-ranked Pepperdine at UCSD’s Canyon View pool.

After two overtime periods, UCSD won the sprint in the three-minute sudden death period, and Smith quickly scored for the Tritons, ranked 10th in the NCAA’s open division.

Goalkeeper Randy Frankie had 15 saves and Dave Calder scored four goals to lead UCSD.
