New York Film Festival director Richard Roud has been asked to resign by the Film Society of Lincoln Center, which sponsors the festival, society president Alfred Stern told the New York Times. “It’s time to have a change--to bring in new thoughts, new ideas, younger people,” Stern said. Roud, director for 18 years, is considering a proposal that would make him director emeritus of the film festival and a consultant to the film society should he agree to leave his position.
