Local News in Brief : Hospital Case Dropped

Share

Because of insufficient evidence, the City of Burbank will not file criminal charges against Burbank Community Hospital for its alleged refusal to treat an injured transient in August, the city attorney’s office announced.

The city does not believe it can prove that the transient, Robert Parks, 56, was near death when the hospital allegedly turned him away, Burbank City Atty. Douglas Holland said.

Parks was discovered lying on the ground outside the hospital Aug. 28, a day after he had been treated for lice and released. Hospital officials deny refusing to re-admit Parks, but county investigators said Parks was turned away despite being covered with lice and suffering from anemia, dehydration, malnutrition and alcoholic withdrawal.
