Clorox Co.’s income climbed 36% to $39.4 million for the first quarter, compared to last year’s quarter. Sales increased 10% to $302.5 million for the quarter. The Oakland firm attributed the results to record total shipments for the company’s brands, especially the bleach and drain opener brands, cleaning products and salad dressings, and a lower tax rate under the Tax Reform Act of 1986.
