Pasadena : Jail Death Investigated
The Police Department has begun two separate investigations into the jail death of Reginald Benoit, who apparently hanged himself after he was arrested for drunkenness Oct. 7. One probe is being conducted by the department’s detective section; the other is an administrative inquiry headed by Cmdr. Robert Strosser, who is responsible for the city jail. His investigation is expected to be completed today. City Manager Don McIntyre said the investigations are standard procedure after a death at the jail.
Benoit’s family has disputed the initial finding that Benoit committed suicide.
