Local News in Brief : Parking Garage Closed

Share

A section of a parking structure attached to the downtown Los Angeles state office building will remain closed until engineers investigate a series of cracks that developed in its ground-floor level after an earthquake aftershock on Oct. 4, state officials said Thursday.

The cracks at seams in three concrete panels forced closure of the public parking section of the structure, which is nearest the damage, but hundreds of employee parking spaces remain open.

A team of engineers from Sacramento is expected to assess the damage within the week, State Architect Michael J. Bocchicchio said.
