Los Angeles Schools Consider Pros, Cons of Year-Round Schedules
Although the year-round school system may solve overcrowding, it will start many new problems. For one, how can students possibly learn during the heat of the summer when temperatures get to be over 100 degrees? Many of the schools will have to install new air conditioners which would be very costly.
Second, it will be hard for students to participate in sports if they are on their 20-day break at the time. Parents will have a tough time planning vacations, not to mention finding someone to care for their child while he or she is on a break.
After reviewing this new plan, I am glad to say that I am out of school. I think it would be better to build new schools rather than use the money to keep schools open year-round.
