Concern Over Schools

Share

I’m a member of the Carlton Way/Harold Way Neighborhood Assn. in Hollywood and am very concerned about the Grant Elementary School expansion on my street.

A letter from Dr. Britton to our president states that “although the relocation and redesign of the classroom building is possible, such action will delay construction up to nine months and cost an additional $100,000, which is not reimbursable from the state.”

Even if all of this is true, isn’t a redesign more important than a plan that will destroy our neighborhood forever?

If all is lost, I wonder if the school board, in all of its posturing to help the children, has thought of using the Roos Bill anyway in their current plan so that fewer children would have to be bused? That idea would have to take some common sense, something the district has little of, it seems.
