Wynn’s International Posts 3% Earnings Gain
Wynn’s International said earnings edged up 3% in the third quarter, to $1.6 million from $1.5 million a year earlier, while net sales rose 1% to $82.4 million from $81.3 million. The company’s nine-month net income was $3.1 million, down from the $4.7 million a year earlier. The 1986 figure included a gain from discontinued operations of $296,000. Net sales increased to $230 million from $228 million for the same period a year ago.
The Fullerton-based company said its petrochemical-specialties subsidiary experienced gains in sales and profitability, spurred in large part by favorable foreign exchange rates. But, the company said, while the sales gains more than offset the sales decrease experienced by its Climate Systems Inc. subsidiary, additional petrochemical income could not offset lower gross profits in the automotive air-conditioner portion of the business.
