San Ysidro
A uniformed Mexican agriculture inspector was arrested at 11:40 a.m. Monday at the San Ysidro port of entry after U.S. Customs inspectors found almost 60 pounds of marijuana hidden under the hood of his car, border officials said Wednesday.
Daniel Alberici Cervantes, 38, was arrested on suspicion of importation of marijuana with intent to distribute it and is being held in lieu of $25,000 bond at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in San Diego, authorities said.
Alberici told Customs officials he didn’t know the marijuana was in his car.
