Barbecue Gas Leak Rips Garage; Boy, 11, Hurt
Gas leaking from a barbecue exploded through a garage and part of a home in Cerritos Saturday morning, but three children inside the house escaped serious injury, authorities said.
An 11-year-old boy, the oldest of the three children, sustained minor injuries when his parents’ garage in the 16400 block of Bainbrook Ave. exploded shortly after 10 a.m., Sheriff’s Sgt. Stephen Ward said. The two younger children were not injured, paramedics said. The parents, Jerry and Judy Franco, were shopping Saturday morning at the time of the explosion.
