San Diego Hosting World Sailing Event

The San Diego Yacht Club will host the 12-meter World Championship in 1990, the year before the America’s Cup race, the International Twelve Metre Assn. announced Monday at its annual meeting in London.
The event will serve as a warm up to the 1991 America’s Cup race to be held in San Diego.
Thomas Ehman, Sail America Executive Vice President, also announced Monday that three additional challengers for the 1991 America’s Cup race have been accepted, bringing the total number of challengers to 21.
The three challengers, all from Britain, are: Crusade Yacht Club, Isis Corinthian Yacht Club and Royal Canoe Club.
